Its too
early to guess the winners but lets take analyze the teams

1. Team Australia
Australia is definitely an important nominee for the Cricket World Cup 2011. Keeping in mind that most of the experienced Australian Cricket players are going to retire by 2011, this team might not be the same as its being seen now. Think of Australian team without Mathew Hayden, Ricky Pointing, Adam Gilchrist. Well there is definitely a chance for a different team this time.
Result : Tentative

2. South Africa
The South African Cricket Team is one of the top ranking teams in the world, rated at par with the world champions Australia. Also known as The Proteas, South Africa surprised the cricketing world in their first ever world cup appearance in 1992, when they reached up to the semi-finals. In the ICC World Cup 1999, South Africa again reached to the semi-final but lost to Australia, as a result of tie. Today, the South African team has emerged as one of the most elite teams, competing with Australia for the acknowledgment as the best cricket team in the world. With the Ausis team getting little weak for the world cup 2011 it would be a real good chance for the Proteas to actually win the cup this time.
Result: Pass

3. India
India’s batting line-up is looking a little less impressive than usual without the likes of Sachin Tendulkar, the leading ODI run scorer of all time, Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid, but there are few more spectacular and destructive hitters than captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and the new faces in the team will all be looking to make a lasting impact. The Indian Cricket team has just started preparing for the world cup by allowing then youngsters to get into to team. This would be a real challenge for the selectors.
Result: Pass

4. New Zealand
The New Zealand Cricket Team, popularly referred to as the Black Caps, is one of the best cricketing teams in the world today. Today, New Zealand cricket team is rated as one of the strongest and most challenging teams in the world, and it has the potential to upset any team in the world. The current New Zealand cricket team has several outstanding cricketers.
Result: Tentative

5. West Indies
The West Indies Cricket team has been quiet for a while and hasn't shown much of a performance in the recent months or so. There has be lot of changes and preparation need to be done by the cricketing team. Right now this team doesn't seem like its going to make it.
Result: Fail

6. Sri Lanka
The Srilankan team has always been full of surprises. This team is full of spirit and has shown their abilty in the past and will in the future. Sri Lanka have two particularly good runners in Jayawardane and Sangakkara, and always appear sprightly in the field. They have traditionally been a pretty swift and energetic team, and never are in danger of conceding bucket loads of extras. Solid fielding team, good running team, very neat at the bowling crease
Result: Pass

7. Pakistan
The Pakistan team has been struggling with its players and team performance for sometime. The current team has good players but overall as a team is not playing well. It needs to resove its team and coach issues to begin the preparation for the World Cup 2011

More about ICICI Cricket world cup 2011

The ICC and host nations have agreed to a shortened tournament in 2011. The 2007 World Cup attracted criticism due to its drawn out nature and 2011 will see a reduction in the number of teams to 14 and quarter-finals will follow the group stages rather than the Super Sixes that were included in 2007.

Qualification for the minor cricketing nations is a long and arduous process. The ICC World Cricket League has been established for teams without test status and the top sides from this global competition will meet in the United Arab Emirates in 2009 to compete in the ICC Trophy, the final qualification tournament for the 2011 finals.

  1. To be frank this is too early to decide who is going to win the 2011 world cup. 3 years is more then sufficient for teams to bounce back. I would look out for asian sub continent teams (India, Pakistan & Sri Lanka)who are considered lions while playing at home to be the top contender's for the cup but we cannot leave Australia behind (Can we ? :)). For all the cricketing teams the old generation is retiring and would be replaced by new generation . Hence the key to winning world cup would be the team that handles this change efficiently and effectively.

The result of this transformation is visible on Cricket Australia and India. Sri Lanka has also few bowlers who can develop into world class bowlers (Malinga, Amarasinghe). Black caps have yet to identify the replacements for Bond.

So this is too early to predict the winner but being a ardent Indian Fan I would always say India :) and I hope that the men in blue find there groove and see to it that 2011 is a 1983 again.

    Go India Go.
